Driving from Sydney

Follow the Hume Highway from Sydney - south of Goulburn take the Federal Highway and travel south to Canberra.

From Canberra follow the signs to the Monaro Highway to Cooma.

The road then joins the Kosciuszko Rd, through the town of Berridale and onto Jindabyne

Just past Jindabyne Town Centre take a left onto the Alpine Way to Thredbo ans Skitube or straight ahead for Perisher

You will go through the National Park Entrance Station, and then it is only 13km to THREDBO.

Motorists are legally required to carry properly fitting chains in any vehicle other than 4WD’s in a "snow-ice" risk section within the National Park. It's an easy half hour drive from Jindabyne in good weather. Entry to the National Park is $27 per car per day. Annual passes are $185.

Car rental facilities are available through Thrifty Car Hire in Cooma. You can also hire a car at Canberra airport for the 2 1/2 hour drive to the Snowy Mountains. In winter, transfers from Canberra Airport to the resorts can be arranged through Greyhound and Transborder Coach Companies.

Driving from Melbourne

Follow the Hume Highway from Melbourne to Wodonga. Take the Murray Valley Highway "To Wodonga / Tallagatta" exit and follow the signs "To Tallangatta"

After passing Wodonga follow the signs to Tallangatta again on the Murray Valley Highway.

You pass through the village of Koetong onto Corryong. Drive through Corryong and take the "Khancoban" turn off on your right.

In Khancoban you are only 76kms from Thredbo. During winter chains are required to be carried.

An alternative route from Melbourne is also the Kosciuszko Alpine Way with a good part of the journey finding you winding your way along the Murray River. During the winter months a free shuttle bus service operates around the village to pick up and set down guests from designated bus stops and between Friday Flat and the village. Of an evening a shuttle service operates around the village.

Car to Charlotte Pass Oversnow Terminal

From Sydney: Travel the Hume and Federal Highways to Canberra, then the Monaro Highway to Cooma and finally the Kosciusko Road via Jindabyne to the Skitube Bullocks Flat Terminal on the Alpine Way. From the Perisher Skitube terminal oversnow transport can be arranged to the Chalet. Approximate travel time is 6 hours. Oversnow transport to the chalet. Overnight parking is not available in Perisher. Security overnight parking is available at the Skitube Bullocks Flat Terminal. From Melbourne: Travel north on the Hume Highway to Albury/Wodonga and follow the signposting east to Corryong and the Alpine Way via Thredbo to the Skitube Bullocks Flat Terminal. Approximate travel time is 7 hours.

Greyhound Pioneer Mc Caffertys operate bus services from Sydney and Canberra via Jindabyne to the Skitube

Selwyn Snowfields

Located in the Northern section of Kosciuszko National Park, 7km from Kiandra where skiing began in Australia in 1861 and 14km from Australia's highest town, Cabramurra. Selwyn Snowfields is "drive-in" snow sport at it's best, with the car park only a snowballs throw from the ski slopes and Selwyn Centre.
